35+ Sims 4 Female Hair CC Picks I Can’t Play Without
While I have a few favorite hair picks, sometimes you need some Sims 4 female hair cc to really bring a character to life.
The Sims 4 is finite with the amount of content you can access, even if you have ALL the packs — but custom content is seemingly endless. Regardless of what kind of hair style you’re looking for, chances are you can find it.
But with so much to pick from, it can be hard to narrow it down to just your favorites. With that in mind, I’ve gathered my favorite Sims 4 female hair cc picks — which one will you download next?
Best Sims 4 female hair cc
1. Editor’s Pick: Harper Hair by Aladdin-The-Simmer
I LOVE the Harper hair, probably because it’s very much a reflection of my own hair. I’m calling this a mid-length hair just because it hits right below the shoulder, and there are two versions of it.
This curly hair has a very natural look and feel to it. It comes in all 24 Maxis swatches, so it blends perfectly into your game. You can also download the ombre accessory, which has a few other fun colors for you to pick from.
Short Female Hair CC for Sims 4
2. Hotaru Hair by Miiko
I’m not gonna lie, this bob-style hair reminds me of that Russian “Natasha” villain in one of the Pierce Brosnan James Bond films.
However, instead it was inspired by Hotaru Tomoe (aka Sailor Saturn).
This funky style is base game compatible AND works with hats. There are 24 Maxis Match swatches along with 15 extra ones (if you want to download them).
If you’re lovin’ the Sailor Moon-inspired hair, Miiko (the creator) has a few different options available on their Patreon.
3. Lynlee Locs by SheaButtyr
For short wavy locs, I like the Lynlee Locs.
This cute short due is base game compatible, but it doesn’t work with hats. It features a dynamic short curled loc look that’s super cute for Black sims.
This hair is Maxis Match with the 24 base swatches, but the 82k poly might be too high for some computers.
4. Audrey Hair Set by Nolan-Sims
The Audrey hair is a simple, cute short bob with a slight wave.
This hair is a mesh edit of a style that came with Discover University (though, I’m pretty sure you don’t have to have the EP to use it). It’s made for female sims, comes in the standard 24 EA swatches, but you can also add a few custom colors if you want.
This cute little hairstyle also features an accessory headband (not pictured) IF you want to use it.
5. Bonnie Hair by Okruee
Okruee’s Bonnie Hair is one of my favorite curly hair picks if you’re looking for something shorter. There are two versions, one with strands and one without,
This curly bob is base game and hat compatible. It features all 24 EA swatches AND is compatible with genetics (but is turned off for random selection). All-in-all it’s a cute, fun design.
6. Kyanite Hair by Greenllamas
Just like the Audrey Hair, Kyanite is a super cute, short middle-parted bob.
This one features 18 EA swatches, is tagged as feminine, works with the base game, AND you can ear hats with it.
It’s short, cute and filled with personality. Pair it with some cute cc eyes for some added oomph!
Medium-Length Hair
7. Simplicity by Myshunosun
For those that want your sims to rock a blunt medium-length look, the Simplicity style is for you.
This brand new mesh works in just the base game. It featues all the Maxis colors, and is incredibly simple to style.
It’s designed to work on ALL frames, and is for Teens to Elders.
8. Rosa by Simstrouble
Despite my boring CAS background, this cute Rosa hair really is something. Clearly, I’m biased towards curly hair, but this one is SO CUTE.
It’s fully Maxis Match, featuring all 24 swatches. You can wear it with hats, and there are 3 different versions. However, it’s 13k poly, which might be too high for some of us.
9. Cerise Hairs by Renora
The Cerise Hair is a fun ringlet-style hair featuring a head covering. It comes with the 24 EA swatches, and you can also download both a toddler and child version.
This cute little number has a historical throwback for me. It’s worth noting that it’s hairstyle is NOT hat compatible. The only hats you might be able to use it with are the ones that cover the whole hair.
My other big complaint is that while the head scarf changes colors based on the hair, you can’t actually choose which one you want your sim to wear.
10. Raffaella Hair by Aladdin-The-Simmer
Another really cute medium-length curly hair is the Raffaella Hair.
This base game compatible hair also works with hats, and it has all the EA swatches that you love.
It’s also compatible with the Harper Hair Ombre coloring, if that’s something you’re into.
Long Female Hair CC for Sims 4
11. Paula Hair by Serenity
The Paula Hair by Serenity is part of the Dahlia set, and there are several different styles you can choose from. I have the one with hair in front of the shoulders pictured, but there are different configurations.
This hair is a fun medium to long length hair, and it’s super cute. It pairs perfectly with a fancy dress AND a pair of short shorts all the same.
12. Charlotte Hair by Miiko
You could say the Charlotte Hair is mid-length OR long, but since Miiko (the creator) classified it as mid-length, but for the purposes of this we’re going with “long.”
It features a fun deep side part that’s base game compatible AND you can download it for free.
This hair design will perfectly blend in with the other Maxis hair styles. Plus it’s compatible with hats, so make it your own. It’s worth noting that there IS a longer version you can go with.
13. Ariel Hair by Miiko
I love this Disney-inspired Ariel hair. She was always my favorite princess as a child, and honestly it was partly due to her long orange-red hair.
While it looks killer in the red, it does come in the full 24 EA color swatches, so you can find the perfect match for your sim. It’s base game compatible, works with hats.
If you’re building a mermaid this is the hair you NEED to use. However, it works for any ole sim you’re creating too!
14. Rosie Hair by Miiko
The Rosie Hair is super cute and features a flipped over side part. I love the sophisticated feel to this hair, it’s perfect for almost any situation.
This is a REALLY cute hair style. It has 24 Maxis Match colors, plus there are bonus swatches that you can also download if you want.
15. Twyla Hair by Okruee
The Twyla Hair has been tagged for both male and female frames. It features a cute kinky wave that’s tucked behind the shoulders.
It’s base game compatible and has all 24 EA colors. The catch it’s built with 15k poly, which might not work for your device.
Ponytails
16. Serena Hairstyle by Simcelebrity00
For a no-nonsense style pony, there’s the Serena Hair.
This Simcelebrity00 creation is a great flight attendant inspired hairstyle, though that could be because the original photo has that feel to it.
This tight pony has a few side strands to make it a little more realistic.
It’s a style that works from teen to elders, has 24 Maxis Match swatches AND works with hats!
17. Rima Hair by Aladdin-The-Simmer
Cute with a bit of a ’50s vibe, the Rima Hair is a fun pick.
It’s base game compatible, comes with the EA swatches and you can wear it with a hat. There are two versions, one with bangs tucked behind the years, and one without,
I think this would be a great fit for a sim that works in an office, it has a real professional vibe to me.
18. Denise Hairstyle by Miiko
The Denise Hair is a 90s inspired pony inspired by Denise Richards in Wild Things. It has two versions, with and without bangs, and the hairband color can be picked separately.
It comes fit with all 24 Maxis Match colors, 15 bonus swatches (but you’ll need to download the original for them to work).
This style is also compatible with hats, but the hairband color is also in hats, so they don’t always work together.
19. Violet Hairstyle by SimCelebrity00
The Violet Hairstyle is a super cute high ponytail that features two front framing pieces.
This hair style works for teens to elders, you can use it even if you have the base game and there are the 24 base EA swatches. It also works with hats!
I particularly love this paired with a sharp business suit. Pants or skirt suit, it doesn’t matter – it’s a real professional look.
20. Makoto Hair by Miiko
The Makoto Hair is inspired by Sailor Jupiter, and even if you’re not a fan it’s a super cute style.
Like many of the styles on this list, it’s base game compatible and works with hats. I particularly like the sharp, dynamic bangs and the cute high bobbed pony.
If you’re a big fan of Sailor Moon, you can find a few other inspired-by hairstyles on Miiko’s Patreon.
21. Zoë Hair by Okruee
Another fun, funky high ponytail can be found in the Zoë Hair by Okruee.
For some reason this has a fairy feeling to me, but that might just be because of the blue I picked. Regardless, it works with all 24 of the EA colors, is hat compatible and you don’t need any expansions to use it.
However, it is 10,4k polys, which might or might not work for you… though it’s not the highest count I’ve seen.
Braids
22. Jackie Hair by Aladdin-The-Simmer
I LOVE the Jackie Hair braids.
This is a long hairstyle, perfect for simmers that want small, intricate braids that look stellar (seriously, even the bangs are braided!). It’s hat compatible, works with the base game, and comes with all 24 of the EA swatches.
For those that are looking for ombre hair styles, you’ll be thrilled to know this has one. While it’s not displayed, there are 2 ombre options available in the face paint section – and they work with sliders.
23. Amara Braid by Ice-CreamForBreakfast
The Amara Braid is a nice twist (pun intended) on a traditional hair style. It features a thick, twisted, textured braid that’s perfect for adding a little definition to your sim’s hair.
This hair is base game compatible, has the 24 EA swatches that you need to match your game perfectly, and you can wear it with hats!
24. Playground Hair by Miiko
If you’re looking for long behind-the-back braids, Miiko’s Playground Hair is for you.
Inspired by Jinx from Arcane, this base game compatible hair is perfect for adults. However, there is a matching child version if it’s something you’d like to put on younger sims too.
There are 24 EA swatches, along with 15 extra bonus swatches. However, if you want to get the blue used in Miiko’s preview, you’ll need to download something extra – instructions are on the Patreon listing.
25. Ye-Jun Braid by Ice-CreamForBreakfast
Honestly, I should have picked a different color of hair to display the Ye-Jun Braid, but black it is. This super cute braided hairstyle is great if you want something that’s a simple, casual look.
It comes in all the Maxis hair colors, and is really good for dressed up or down looks. I would personally pair it with a little black dress for date night!
Buns
26. Dolores Updo by Sheabuttyr
I truly feel the Delores Updo, that’s fully based on the fact that my hair totally looks like that when I put it up.
If you think you recognize it, that’s because it’s based on Dolores from Encanto. It’s base game compatible, comes with 24 swatches, and 7 additional swatches (if you want them). However, it does not work with hats.
The bow is an overlay accessory, and there are plenty of colors that you can choose from.
27. Trinity Bun by Dogsill
The Trinity Bun hair style is super cute. It features dramatic bangs along with a mid-heigh clipped bun in the back. It has a very fun, modern chunky-hair look.
This hairstyle is actually from the Seasons EP, but it’s been redesigned to be base game compatible. It has 24 EA swatch colors, and you can wear it with a hat!
28. Yasmin Hair by Ice-CreamForBreakfast
If you’re looking for a tight ballet-style bun with a few flattened strands then the Yasmin Hair is for you.
It’s a really great Maxis Match hair that features all 24 swatches. I think this is a great sporty hairdo to dress up, but it’s also perfect for casual days.
29. Vivian Hair Set by Nolan-Sims
There are two versions of the Vivian Hair available in the download file. I’ve pictured version one (the bun), and there’s also a ponytail (version two).
These hairstyles can be worn by female sims, and they come in the standard 24 swatches to match your Maxis style. There are a few extra colors you can download if you want to too!
30. Panea Puff by Sheabuttyr
The Panea Puff hairstyle is a very simple, very cute bun.
It’s base game compatible, works with hats, and comes with all 24 Maxis swatches. I particularly like that it has a very simple middle part with a kinky-coiled puffy bun.
Other Fun Updos
31. Fox Hair (Version 2) by Miiko
I LOVE the Fox Hair by Miiko.
Not only does it have a fun cutesy-gamer vibe to it, but it’s hella fun to color and dress up on your sims. It blends in really well with Maxis Match, featuring all 24 swatches.
There are 15 extra swatches for this half-up, half-down hairstyle that features fun pointy space buns. Best of all, it’s base game compatible, and it works with hats!
32. Luna Hair by MiikoCC
Made in a similar fashion to the Fox Hair, the Luna Hair is for you.
This base game compatible hair comes with 24 Maxis Math swatches, and you can wear it with hats (IF you want to cover up the cute buns).
This hair also comes in a longer version too, if that matters to you. I think it’s the perfect hair for gamer or freelancer sims!
33. Stevie Hair by Simstrouble
I LOVE the Stevie Hair by Simstrouble. You can use this on both feminine and masculine frames, so double-check what you download.
This half-up style is perfect for those that want something with a little bit more definition and personality.
There are 24 Maxis match swatches that you can pick from. It’s hat compatible and overall super cute and stylish. It can work for any type of look from casual to professional.
34. Elena Hairstyle by Simstrouble
I really like the Elana Hairstyle if you’re aiming for something more country-girl. It’s cute, versatile, and practical.
There is a bow overlay that’s included, which you can use to spice it up. It features the 24 Maxis Match swatches, and is base game compatible. You can also use it in outfits with hats.
This style features two side braids that connected via a bow at the back. The rest of the hair falls down below it… honestly, it’s something that I used to wear to school when I was (considerably) younger.
35. Zooey Hair by Nolan-Sims
Nolan-Sim’s Zooey Hair reminds me of Sam from A Cinderella Story. It doesn’t hurt that I paired it with a Cinderella-y colored dress.
It features front bangs with a tuft of hair that’s pinned back, while the greater length of it falls down past the shoulders. Honestly, it’s hella cute!
This hair is tagged for female sims, and it comes in the standard 24 EA colors.
36. Charline Hairstyle by Simstrouble
The Charline Hairstyle is another one I used to wear as a school-aged teen (and pre-teen for that matter). It’s a long, wavy style that features bangs, a looser front section that’s wrapped into a clip on the back.
It’s base game compatible, features 24 swatches that match Maxis hairstyles. Unfortunately, it’s not hat compatible. However, the clip overlay included comes in 40 different swatches!
Final Thoughts: Sims 4 Female Hair CC
While you can find some really nice hair options in the game already, the truth is that Sims 4 female hair cc creators really take the cake. Some of my favorite styles are made by sims modders… and for good reason.
If you want to add a little customization to your game and need some more cute hair options to choose from, I highly recommend checking out some of these great styles. The best part is that you can download ALL of these hair styles for completely FREE (no kits needed).
While I LOVE all the hairstyles on this list, my favorites are:
- Harper Hair, a fun curly do
- Zooey Hair, which reminds me of A Cinderella Story
- Fox Hair, with those super cute buns
- Ariel Hair, which is perfect if you’re making a mermaid sim
Ultimately, it’s up to you and the types of sims you create. Regardless of what type of hairstyle you’re looking for chances are some modder out there has already made it for you.
